DOMAINE DE BARTHE

Welcome to the website of Barthe gites, which are situated within  Domaine de Barthe in the Languedoc Roussillon province of the South of France. Domaine de Barthe is owned and run by Mark and Nicole Adams, who have lived permanently at the site since February 2005 and are continuing to sympathetically develop the complete estate to create an idyllic tranquil holiday environment, providing a very comfortable base from which you can explore the region.  We now have available 3 self catering holiday gites (a 3 bedroom house, a 2 bedroom cottage and a 3 bedroom apartment) and  have recently installed (spring 2007) a 14m x 6m swimming pool for your added pleasure. Domaine de Barthe (pronounced Bart) is an ancient wine domaine located in the Aude valley  between the Corbiere and Minervois wine regions. It is surrounded by vineyards, yet only a kilometre away from the villages of Douzens and Blomac and 2km from the larger town of Capendu with many amenities. The domaine is set in 2 hectares (5 acres) of it's own vines and is a few hundred metres from the river Aude itself. Being only 50 kilometres (35 miles) from the sea, it is in a true Mediterranean climate zone. 

 

              

The main buildings are set around an attractive pebbled courtyard entered through a grand ancient gateway. Immediately in front are two  attached gîtes which, together, can accommodate up to 10 people (one is 3 bedroom, the other 2 bedroom). Next to these is the Lavoir (laundry room) housing the laundry facilities. To either side are ancient barns, one containing the activities/games area.  Above the right barn is a 3 bedroom apartment  which was refurbished last season.

The activities/games barn is a great hit with clients of all ages! There are a large selection of children's toys and boxed games available with a huge area to allow them to spread out and play with them. In addition, there is a library, a TV (which plays DVDs only), a table tennis table, a table football table, a dartboard and a large table which is ideal for soirées and group activities.

 

 
Just beyond the courtyard sidegate is the secluded hangar (open barn) area where 'group' BBQ facilities and additional space for outside 'soirées' and activities are located. The 'covered' petanque court is set out within the hanger, so you can enjoy the traditional French pastime out of the summer heat!. The in ground swimming pool is located within a secluded walled garden area a short walk from the main courtyard.
